Who

Wattbot's founders were introduced by a mutual friend in 2007 (thanks Wei) because he knew they both shared the same frustration with the tiny rate of renewable and energy efficiency technology adoption. Despite the wide range of available products, services, incentives, and media chatter, renewable and efficiency technologies were only deployed in less than one half percent of the potential North American homes.

With Kurt's database and web services background, and Diane's experience in sustainable architecture, they decided to poke around a bit. After a long period of market research that included surveys and interviews with hundreds of potential consumers and providers, and even installing solar panels themselves, they discovered that one of the biggest problems was the lack of personalized information and advice that was specifically tailored to each potential buyer.

What

The decision to invest in renewables or energy efficiency depends on your location, your current and future financial profile, utility rates, energy usage, the current and future state of technologies, services, incentives, financing plans, and a host of other factors. Unless you have a PhD in energy and an MBA in finance (and even if you do), you'll spend an awful lot of time, money, energy and frustration in in sorting out which products, services, and financing plans make sense for you.

Enter Wattbot. Our vision is for Wattbot to be the most objective, comprehensive, and trusted clean energy advisor available, empowering everyone with the tools they need to take action and declare their energy independence.

Why

Our philosophy is that reducing your dependence on large fossil-based energy sources makes simple economic sense. It can be a real challenge to "run the numbers" that prove it, but that is why we created Wattbot. Of course, apart from the money you can save, there are a whole bunch of other benefits to becoming more energy independent, and we love all those reasons too, but if Wattbot can show you which options will save you money, we think that is one argument that is difficult to ignore!
